MegaTech Projects Ltd (MPL) were awarded the contract to install 6nr Expanded Polystyrene System (EPS) extensions to 5nr platforms, totalling 110 metres, at Maidenhead Station on the Paddington to Reading line. Working for Western Enhancements Delivery (WED) and delivering for Great Western Railway (GWR) MPL began installation in early August 2019 and completed the works by mid-September.

Utilizing weekend possessions the installations at Maidenhead took a total of 47 working hours. MPL faced several challenges at Maidenhead in both design and construction but the most interesting challenge faced during this project was presented by an OLE gantry situated at platform 3 London End. The required dimensions for the platform extensions meant this gantry would have clashed with the platform extension. To tackle this problem MPL simply designed a localised in-shot to one of the EPS blocks which allowed for it to be installed around the gantry. During installation the block simply slotted around the structure without affecting programme.
